The database is fully open and continuously updated by PROCAL.
ENVELOP3D®, integrates a tool for importing IFC 2x3 or 4x models.
Once the IFC model is imported, the contours of the facades, floors and roofs are drawn automatically. If the IFC model is sufficiently filled in, the row axes and openings are drawn automatically when creating the facades.
Correction and adjustment tools are available to facilitate the work of the envelope modeler.
It is also possible to work from 2D DWG, DXF or PDF plans from a surveyor's survey or old plans.
ENVELOP2D® is compatible via export
/IFC import from XSTEEL, TEKLA software,
HICAD, REVIT, SKETCHUP...

This manager allows you to draw each product by layer according to a layout frame.
A layout frame associates a product, a layout direction (horizontal or vertical) and layout parameters:
-
Direction of installation depending on the orientation of the building.
-
Overhangs at the corners.
-
Center distance, overlap.
-
No layout.
-
Adjustment to openings.
-
…
The layout is of course done taking into account the RAGE and PROFEEL rules, the product technical sheets and the practices specific to the companies.
For double-skin layout, there can be several layers:
-
Plateau
-
Insulating or double insulating
-
Spacers if horizontal cladding
-
Vertical or horizontal exterior cladding
The steps for creating a facade layout are:
-
Cutting
-
Creation of 2D panels
-
Creating the holes
-
Creation of the frames
-
Creation of brackets and fixing
The cutting is done in 2 ways:
-
Analysis of the facade and its cutting taking into account the singular points of the facade (Shape, dimensions, openings.
-
Cutting of the facade according to the plan provided by the architect.
After cutting the facade, the panels are designed taking into account the joints between panels.
The panels can have a color and a grain direction (wood tone for example).
The holes, frames and brackets are created taking into account the rules of the DTU and the technical advice of the manufacturers:
-
Center distance and offsets at the edges of
drilling holes.
-
Diameters of fixed and sliding points
-
Maximum center distance of frames
-
Type of frames, T, L, C, OMEGA…
-
Type of brackets, center distances.
Layout modification tools allow you to intervene at any time during the layout creation process:
-
Lengthening or narrowing of panels
-
Splitting into multiple panels or merging panels
-
Aligning the holes
-
Creating perforations on the panels
Once the 2D layout has been completed, all the quantities and layouts of the panels can be produced.

A library of COMPOSITE cassette types is offered with ENVELOP3D®. This library is already provided with standard cassettes from the main manufacturers on the market:
ALPOLIC
ALUCOBAND
STACBOND
ETALBOND
LARSON
…
The cassette is fully configurable:
-
Type, width, angle and number of folds
-
Notches (type, center distance, offset, etc.)
-
Drillings and slots
-
Top and bottom rails
-
Squares
The advanced configuration of the cassettes allows all the singular points of the facade to be treated
-
Corner cassette with or without returns
-
Cassette at the openings
-
Starter cassette
-
Covered cassette
-
Rounded cassette
The layout of 3D cassettes is done after selecting a cassette type which is applied to a previously drawn 2D outline.
It is then possible to align the notches for the staggered panels.
After drawing the cassettes, it is possible to modify them at any time by group or individually:
-
Changing lengths
-
Division, merger of panels
-
Changing the cassette type
-
Changing colors
-
Adding perforation
-
…
Finally, the entire substructure will also be drawn
-
Stiffeners
-
Frames
-
Yoke
-
Squares
Panels can be marked and shaping plans edited.

A metal cassette type library is offered with ENVELOP3D®, it is completely open and configurable.
This library is already supplied with standard cassettes from the main manufacturers on the market:
-
BS, MD, ISOFAN… hull from ARCELOR MITTAL
-
KASSETTE CAMIE, BONNIE, SUNIE… from BLUETEK
-
PLANAL K7 from VETISOL
The creation of 3D cassettes is done after choosing 2D contours. It is possible to create:
-
Rectangular cassette
-
Cassette of any shape
-
Variable depth cassette
-
Corner cassette
-
Cassette on opening
-
Yoke
-
Frames
After drawing the cassettes, it is possible to modify them at any time by group or individually:
-
Changing lengths
-
Division, merger of panels
-
Changing the cassette type
-
Changing colors
-
Adding perforation
-
…
Finally, the entire substructure will also be drawn
-
Stiffeners
-
Frames
-
Yoke
-
Squares
The layout is done AUTOMATICALLY after choosing a center distance, a starting point and a layout direction:
-
Center distance 430 or 500
-
Random repeating center distance
-
Drawing free edges
-
Adjustment to openings
It is possible to draw the panels:
-
Horizontally or vertically
-
With single fold or double fold
-
With a laying direction (Left->Right or Right->Left)
-
With a larger starting panel in the case of a divergent layout.
A function allows you to draw the sheathing.
Finally, it is possible to add fixed or sliding fasteners depending on the slope, the building area and the building exposure. Fasteners can be rated and quantified.
Accessories such as edge bends, ridges, opening frames and corner bends are drawn and quantified in a table
After the layout, the panels are automatically identified and a table is created which summarizes the quantities and the shaping of each panel.
This table can then be exported to EXCEL.
The layout is done in two possible ways:
-
Layout from 2D plans by transforming polyline-type contours into 3D terracotta panels.
-
Layout of areas (polyline outline) of the facade by duplicating terracotta panels according to the layout rules, taking into account:
-
Horizontal and vertical joint thicknesses
-
The layout step
-
The horizontal and vertical layout mode
-
The singular points of the facade can be treated in a particular way through numerous tools:
-
The facade angles
-
The opening tables
-
The top of the facade.
Once the layout has been completed, it is possible to put in place the entire substructure which allows the panels to be fixed:
-
Staples on the panels
-
Vertical or horizontal frames
-
Squares
Panels can be cut at 45° angles, beveled or bird's beak.
The panels can be individually marked and drawn.
A library integrated into ENVELOP3D® allows you to create and manage any type of folding:
-
Bibs
-
Cover
-
Corner folding
-
Jamb
-
Underside
-
Pin
-
Costières
-
Zed, Corniere, Omege, L…
The folds are designed with varying fold widths and varying fold angles.
The folds can be added directly into the facade by simply clicking on the support after choosing the type of fold.
Once inserted into the facade, the fold is automatically sized according to the position of the fold and the width of the layout complex.
It is possible to change the folding at any time.
A library of opening dressings allows you to create different types of dressings.
Each side of the opening (Panels, Lintel and Supports) can be configured with one or more folds:
-
Jamb with or without clamp on opening tables
-
Flap with or without underside to the lintels
-
Bib support to supports
There can be several types of dressing
-
Cladding for double skin cladding
-
Cladding for HPL panel cladding
-
Composite cassette cladding
-
Cladding for terracotta cladding
Adding a dressing is done after choosing a type of dressing that is applied to an opening.
The folds can be marked and a shaping notebook can be produced.
It is possible to create and manage facings by associating a name and an AUTOCAD or RAL color.
Once this facing is created, it can be associated with an element of the facade whether they are:
-
HPL panel
-
Cladding
-
Foldings
-
Screws...
It is possible to assign 2 colors to a cladding element (exterior and interior)
When locating and creating quantities, the RAL or color of the objects is taken into account in the calculation.
The identification of each object making up the facade is done automatically, it concerns:
-
HPL panels
-
COMPOSITE cassettes or ALU/METAL cassettes
-
STANDING SEAM PANELS
-
Cladding
-
Folding
-
Frames
The marking takes into account the dimensions of the panels, the drillings (HPL panels) and the facings. The quantities can be exported in table form to EXCEL or a company ERP system.
A cutting optimization tool is integrated into ENVELOP3D®. It allows you to calculate a waste rate for the entire project or facade by facade.
It is possible to calculate a drop rate with different panel manufacturers and compare the result.
Once the waste rate has been calculated, it is possible to draw the cutting plan of the raw panel and export this same cutting in DXF format configured to be taken into account by the NC machining machine.
It is possible to create and manage a detail book as it is possible to draw cuts and sections and display them with the installation plans.
The details book can be numbered and a summary of the pages. The details can be annotated (product designation) and rated, the altimetry calculated automatically.
If there is a change in the layout, the cuts and sections are updated automatically.
Finally the details book can be printed to a PDF file.
Installation plan and printing
The installation plans are created for each facade, each roof or a set of roofs.
It is possible to choose:
-
The scale
-
The format (A0, A1,...)
-
Items to display:
-
Plateau
-
Cladding
-
Panels
-
Frames
-
